Garden
Restoration

Garden restoration is essentially a reset: returning a garden to what it was intended to be. In practice, that often means taking things out and bringing air back in. More garden with less. I think of it as restoring the balance between mass and space.

The original design provides the guiding principle, but there is always room to welcome change. A tree seed blown in by the wind might settle in exactly the right place. It would be a shame to remove such a ‘happy accident’.

I never simply charge in and start cutting things back. Everything in close consultation with you.
